The Des Moines DAV Thrift Store supports the local DAV chapter by selling quality, donated merchandise, at hard-to-beat prices, to loyal and new customers. Every donation and purchase helps support disabled Iowa veterans, their families and other survivors. Nationally, the DAV provides 615,000 rides annually to American veterans attending medical appointments. The DAV also assists with around 250,000 benefit claims each year. Impressively, in 2017 alone, these new and retroactive benefits totalled approximately $4 billion to help care for veterans and their families. Additionally, the DAV is committed to connecting American veterans with purposeful employment by hosting job fairs and providing invaluable resources.

Locally, proceeds from the sales of donated items go directly to Disabled American Veterans Chapters 20 and 53 (see www.daviowa.org) to assist veterans in the Des Moines area and to support the programs of the Disabled American Veterans throughout the State of Iowa.
